The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav

in the town of Andergast a dark prophet was burned at the stake at the place of execution. Nobody knew his true name. He had come from the woods and spoke his dark prophecies only to disappear again. The people revered him as the "the Seer". It was said that he might have been a druid, a sorcerer, a being from the fairy folk or even an all-knowing demigod. Time and time again the Seer predicted disaster would come to Andergast and, indeed, disaster did come. Nobody knew the real reason why the King of Andergast had the Seer executed. Some say the Seer himself had cursed the whole kingdom of Andergast...."

Gameplay in Mass Effect 3 will be influenced by decisions from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 and will include locations throughout the galaxy, including Earth and Mars. Mass Effect 3 will follow from the events of the Mass Effect 2 DLC expansion Arrival and follow Commander Shepard as he/she tries to save the galaxy from the Reapers by rallying civilizations of the galaxy together, while also having to deal with Cerberus, who have decided to turn against him/her..."

Demo
The Mass Effect 3 Demo will be with us on or close to Feb 14th 2012. It will be coming to all platforms around that date but may shift slightly depending on the platform and the geo location.
The single player section includes 2 areas: the opening level featuring the Reaper attack on Earth, and a level further into the game where Shepard travels to an alien home world to seek their assistance in the war effort. This will be approximately 1 to 2 hours of content. The co-op multiplayer section includes 2 maps: Slum and Noveria.  This section will be open to players who have qualified for the early multiplayer access as of Feb 14, and will then open up to all players on Feb 17.
Question - Can I import saves from Mass Effect 2? Does the demo create a save game for the full version of Mass Effect 3? The demo does not support save importing and does not create a save game for the full version of Mass Effect 3.
Will playing the Mass Effect 3 demo spoil the main game story for me? The single player section of the Mass Effect 3 demo is taken from the main game and therefore by definition could be considered to contain spoilers. The multiplayer section of the demo does not contain spoilers.

Game of Thrones has swept across the world during the past 12 months, finding its way into every entertainment medium. It began as a very successful book series, A Song Of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin.
This is the second game to be made from this series. The first was a RTS with an intrigue twist, called A Game Of Thrones: Genesis. We reviewed it last year. The twist didnt work. This one is just called Game Of Thrones, a 3rd person action rpg set around the beginning of the first book. Lets take a look at the Game of Thrones RPG system requirements...
The story of A Game of Thrones takes place during the first book of the saga, at the time when Jon Arryn, the Hand of King Robert Baratheon, is found dead at King's Landing.  The game allows players to follow two epic quests: Mors and Alester's quests.  Their totally original story was canonized by George R.R. Martin himself and perfectly integrates the original story the fans are so familiar with in the series.
There will also be a Game Of Thrones MMO.

We are advised that it will be available on Steam and they also say "We have internally tested that the game works with NVISION 3D very nicely. We have not tested AMD HD3D but will aim to do so or get a 3rd party confirmation whether it works or not."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the next in the title in the popular COD series and will be releasing fairly soon, November 2012.
We already knew that BO2 will be using its ageing game engine, so requirements weren't predicted to be that high, but Treyarch have offficially sent word about their Call of Duty Black Ops 2 system requirements, so lets take a look at the details...
Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows Vista SP2 / Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ
RAM 32-Bit OS2 GB RAM
RAM 64-Bit OS: 4 GB RAM
GPU RAM: 512MB
GPUNividia GeForce 8800 GT  / ATI Radeon HD 3870
DX: 11
Here are some obvious questions that you may like covered before you pick up a pre-order.
Does the game run on Windows XP?
No. Following the game engine upgrade, it requires DirectX11 now. Windows XP does not support that and so COD BO2 requires Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 or better.

Does Black Ops 2 actually run ok on a machine that just meets the BO2 minimum requirements?
Yes Black Ops 2 will run on a machine that meets minimum system requirements. Treyarch assure us that they have run extensive tests on a variety of hardware and are very confident that a minimum requirement machine can run the game to a suitable standard.
What game engine does Black Ops II use?
They are sticking with a modified version of the game engine known as Black Ops. It has a number of improvements, including performance optimizations, enhanced graphics, and proprietary anti-cheat technology.
Please explain the performance optimizations of Black Ops II?
The engine now handles multiple threads much more effectively and will now also use Direct X 11 instead of the previous Direct X 9 technology.
DX11's API is much leaner than DX9 and therefore puts less stress on the CPU while still being able to do the same amount of processing. This enhancement will benefit all hardware and not just DX11 hardware. With extra quality to performance options added in to the game a gamer can now customize their experience, choosing whether to run something faster or instead to enahnce the look of the game.
Will the PC version of Black Ops 2 get enhanced graphics?
The PC version of Black Ops 2 will come with some advanced visual features that include, enhanced lighting, shadows, antialiasing, bloom, depth of field, ambient occlusion, and other enhancement effects that are currently still being worked on. Also there will be higher resolutions options and an increased framerate for the PC.
Will Black Ops 2 have a framerate cap on the PC?
No. But Treyarch will allow you to set a framerate cap if you want it. They have added in an adjustable FPS cap slider in the game options. The minimum setting is OFF (no cap).

So there we go. No doubt this is likely to be another masssive release and one that even creaky aging PCs will likely be able to play.
Our calculations suggest that a PC that is around 4 years old will be able to play this game fairly easily, providing it is DX11 capable.
Whats your thoughts on Black Ops 2?

DungeonBowl

MULTIPLAYER ONLY
Dungeonbowl is a stand alone game based on Bloodbowl by Cyanide.
Dungeonbowl, as its name suggests, is played in a dungeon and is a variant of the mighty popular Blood Bowl! The teams move about using teleporters, and must begin the game by searching for the ball hidden in one of the trapped chests scattered throughout the dungeon. Once the ball has been found, there’s a furious battle for possession – the first team to score a Touchdown wins, so the game is hard-fought and fast-paced!..."

Cyanide Studios have traditionally picked up licenses to convert many loved fantasy worlds & boardgames into video games. They were the guys behind the BloodBowl conversion in 2009.
A popular spin off from the BloodBowl boardgame was DungeonBowl. Cyanide are bringing this to PCs very soon as a stand alone, multiplayer only. Lets take a look at the DungeonBowl System Requirements...
The engine is the same as that used by the original BloodBowl so DungeonBowl hardware requirements are still minimal.
DungeonBowl Minimum System Requirements
OS : Windows XP / Vista / 7
CPUPentium 4 2.4Ghz / Athlon 2400+
RAM2 Gb
GPU256 MB, DirectX 9 and Shaders Models 2 compatible
Unlike BloodBowl, your team can be made up of different races to face off against another team in....thats right, a dungeon. Using teleports to whiz around the dungeon arena you will have to find the spiked ball hidden inside 1 of 5 chests. The other chests are likely boobytrapped. The first team to score wins.
As DungeonBowl is riddled with complex variables, like teleporters and non-standard pitch shapes, Cyanide have opted to make this game human vs human only. Consequently, it can be picked up for just £10, although you may need to make sure a buddy also has a copy if you are going to play online with someone.
DungeonBowl is a turn based game and will be available in 3 languages, French, German and English.
DungeonBowl releases on 8th June 2012. Although if you pre-order Dungeon Bowl before the 01/06/2012 you will receive early access to the game!

Fifa 13

EA Canada are, as usual, bringing us FIFA 13 later this year and we have already been passed the FIFA 2013 system requirements. The reason for such early requirements, it seems, is that little is changing in terms of graphics engine.
It is likely that tings will remain this way until the new gen of consoles hit the stores. Lets take a look at the Fifa 13 system requirements...
FIFA 13 Recommended System Requirements
CPU:  Intel Core2Duo @ 2.4Ghz on Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7. Dual core processor (Core duo 2 or better)
RAM: 2GB
GPU RAM: Compatible 3D accelerated 256 MB video card or equivalent (must support Shader Model 3.0 or above)
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 2900 or NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
DX: DirectX® 9.0c
As always, for a detailed analysis pop over to our FIFA 13 game page to check your system.
Never-the-less Fifa 13 is likely to be the top footie game of the year unless Konami manage to pull something pretty impressive out of the bag.
Here are some Key Features in Fifa 2013's arsenal.
• Attacking Intelligence— All-new positioning intelligence infuses attacking players with the ability to analyse plays, and to better position themselves to create new attacking opportunities. Players will work harder and smarter to break down defences, make runs that pull defenders out of position, and open passing channels for teammates. Plus, players possess an off-the-ball vision and the ability to think two plays ahead to create, curve, or alter runs to capitalize on openings as they occur.

• Complete Dribbling— Make every touch matter with complete control of the ball. Exploit 1v1 opportunities with the freedom to be more creative in attack. Players are more explosive accelerating with the ball, and utilise precise dribble touches with true 360° mobility with the ball while facing a defender. Face an opponent to threaten attack while moving with the ball in any direction to dodge tackles, or turn and shield the ball, maintaining position, and holding off defenders for longer stretches.

• FIFA 13 1st Touch Control— A new system eliminates near-perfect control for every player by creating uncertainty when receiving difficult balls. Poor passes are harder to control, enabling defenders to capitalize on errant balls and poor touches. Factors such as defensive pressure, trajectory of the ball, and velocity of the pass all factor into a player’s success. Players with better control and skill stand out. Fewer perfect touches, the potential to over hit passes, more opportunity for loose balls, and greater balance between defending and attacking.

• Player Impact Engine—The second generation of the award-winning physics engine expands physical play from just collisions to off-the-ball battles, giving defenders more tools to win back possession. Defenders can use their body to win possession, push and pull for position, and utilise their size and strength to force opponents into poor touches and decisions before the ball arrives.

• FIFA 13 Tactical Free Kicks—Create dangerous and unpredictable free kicks. Position up to three attacking players over the ball and confuse opponents with dummy runs, more passing options, and more elaborate free kicks. Opponents can counter by adding or subtracting players to the wall, creeping the wall forward, or sending a bullet man to intercept the pass or block the shot.

• New Passes—Two new passing options give players the ability to finesse passes over the outstretched leg of a defender or play lower trajectory lofted through balls into space or to teammates.

• FIFA 13 Fundamentals—Essential elements have been refined to make the experience more authentic. Referees will now make better decisions awarding fouls and cards, goalkeeper intelligence has been improved, and Tactical Defending has added lateral mobility for players in defensive containment.
